The faculty and staff of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication are deeply saddened by the recent death of Assistant Professor Alex Tizon.
Tizon, who has been a valued member of the journalism faculty since 2011, brought to his teaching two decades of experience as an investigative reporter during a distinguished career that earned more than a dozen journalism awards, including a Pulitzer Prize. In addition to his award-winning work, he was widely respected for his wit, warmth and intellect.
SOJC colleagues and students honor his spirit and love of story and offer our condolences to his family.
