How to receive technical assistance

Technical Support and Equipment

Campus Systems

For assistance with connecting to and using campus-wide services including email accounts, wireless networks, dial-up service and anti-virus/network security contact the university's IT website at http://it.uoregon.edu.

 

Contact the Knight Library's Media Services group for help with equipment in Allen Hall rooms 221, 216 & 301a.

 

School of Journalism & Communication Technical Services

For assistance in the Brainerd Lab (306 Allen) see the lab monitor at the station nearest the door.

 

For help with School of Journalism computers and software within Allen Hall:

  • Send email to support@jcomm.uoregon.edu with specific details about your issue
  • Call our help desk at 346-0257 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
  • Visit 312B Allen Hall between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.

 

For assistance with video and audio recording equipment located in the Chambers Electronic Media Center (CEMC):

  • Call the CEMC equipment checkout room at 346-3715 (M-F, 8 am to 5 pm)
  • Contact Matt Schmidt, CEMC manager at 346-4244 or matts@uoregon.edu

 

Services we provide

Support for Apple Macintoshes and Windows PCs in computer labs and faculty offices
Support for printers, scanners, disk drives and all other hardware
Support for all school-owned software
Assistance with school audio and video equipment
Web site design, maintenance, consulting (for classes and student organizations only)
Student purchasing advice for computers and software
Referral to a vast array of technical resources
Faculty computer purchasing, installation and setup

 

Services we cannot provide

Support involving personal hardware and software
Help with personal, non-academic projects
Training on an individual basis
