Ad Society (formerly Ad Club)

Nationally affiliated organization actively promoting the advertising profession through sponsorship of lectures, panel discussions and other opportunities for interaction.

 

Allen Hall Advertising (AHA)

In-house student-run advertising agency serving a number of clients, ranging from the US Forest Service, Digital Duck and Ironworks Gym. Hands-on experience is guaranteed.

 

Allen Hall Public Relations (AHPR)

In-house student-run public relations agency serving clients which include the US Capitol and US Forest Service. Hands-on experience and great networking opportunities.

 

Duck U

Duck U is the University's largest and most prominent variety television program. Granted, there's no competition... but if there were, we'd like to think our professionalism, creativity, and charming, slightly flirtatious smile would help us come out on top.

 

Ed on Campus

An organization for magazine students. This group is part of an outreach program of Ed2010, a magazine networking group in New York.

 

Journalism Graduate Student Association (JGSA)

 

The Journalism Graduate Students' Association is an informal organization for the graduate students at the SOJC. There are no dues or membership fees. The organization plans activities such as Brown Bag Lectures and Research Swap Shops, and helps keep students apprised of school information by reporting on faculty searches, Graduate Affairs Committee decisions, and faculty meetings.

National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ)

The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is an organization of journalists, students and media-related professionals that provides quality programs and services to and advocates on behalf of black journalists worldwide.  It is the largest organization of journalists of color in the world.

 

National Broadcasting Society (NBS)

National professional and honor society dedicated to enhancing development of students and entry-level professionals involved in telecommunications and electronic media. Career preparation, exposure to the electronic media industries and other career opportunities.

 

National Press Photographers' Association (NPPA) Student Chapter

Oregon Innocence Network

Joint student organization between law and journalism students.  The mission of the Oregon Innocence Network is to support efforts by the U of O to establish an Innocence Project and to seek the exoneration and release from confinement of innocent persons convicted of crimes they did not commit and serving prison sentences or awaiting execution for such crimes in Oregon prisons.   541-346-3717

 

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)

Founded by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and one of 220 chapters nationwide. The primary purpose of PRSSA is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional PR practitioners. Internship, conference, networking and award opportunities.

 

Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ)

National organization whose goal is the promotion of professional journalism through the sponsorship of various campus and school programs. Emphasizes professional development, freedom of information, ethics and diversity.
