Mindy Moreland cut her journalistic teeth at the copy desk of the Oregon Daily Emerald before ascending into the world of Flux. She is currently pursuing a master's degree at the University of Oregon, specializing in magazine writing, editing and design, and will spend the summer of 2008 as an intern for Oregon Quarterly. She has a love-hate relationship with headline writing, and a true adoration for the art of the personal essay. Her five best Jeopardy categories would be the Mann-Booker prize, vegetable soups, classic rock lyrics suitable for singing on car trips, Aaron Sorkin's oeuvre, and the reactions of Japanese school children when presented with a blond English teacher who is almost certainly carrying stickers.
