Controlling access to your items

by Andre Chinn last modified 09:45 AM Tue Nov 27, 2007

How to control who can see the items you put in this system.

You may control who can view the contents of a posted item by selecting Private, Public Draft or Publish from the State menu in the upper right of the page. Here is a quick summary of the varying levels of access:

State
Who can read item
Private

Creator and faculty only

Public Draft
Any member of the School
Publish
The entire world*

* Only those who have internet access

Finally, now by default, any item added to the system, whether it be a page, photo, link or file is now marked Private by default. Again, this means that no one else on the system can see the contents of that time except the person who created it and the faculty of the School of Journalism and Communication. (We chose to allow faculty access to your material because 1. it is presumed that the material being posted to this site is for academic purposes and 2. the School's faculty may be providing feedback on material you have posted.)
