Journalism in the Future Tense - Reclaiming the Moral Voice
What is happening to journalism today—and how will it evolve as we move into an uncertain future? Will the traditional values of the past continue to inform the new journalism, or will they too need to evolve to accommodate the transformation? These are some of the questions being explored as journalists, academics, and students come together for the 2009 Conversations in Ethics. The John L. Hulteng Conversations in Ethics is an annual event made possible by the family of the late John Hulteng, former SOJC dean and professor, who set standards of journalism ethics that remain intact today. The event brings together students, professionals, and the public for an informed discussion of the ethical issues of the day as they pertain to the media and their constituencies.
The 2009 Payne Awards for Ethics in Journalism will be presented in a special lunchtime ceremony. A panel discussion among the winners will follow.
