Biography:

Background
Steeves currently heads the school’s graduate studies programs. She has published a book and many articles in the area of gender and communication issues in developing countries. She has had two Fullbright grants for teaching and research in Kenya and Ghana. Her professional experience is in public relations.


Research

Steeves’ research centers on two areas and their intersection: communication in developing countries, especially Africa, and gender and communication. Her present work examines development communication strategies in rural areas, Third World women’s involvement and representation in all aspects of development communication, and the roles of women and other marginalized groups in debates on national communication and information policies.
