Biography:
I'm currently seeking my doctoral degree in the communication and socitey program, with focus on critical studies. My MA thesis was an experimental ethnographic video titled "Imperial Tourism," plus a discursive component "A Critical Discussion of Subjectivity, Representation, and Experimental Ethnography." I'm also a practicing media artist, and my work has been screened at the Chicago, Seattle, and Euro Underground Film festivals etc.
Previously, I was an adjunct professor of sociology, intro/advanced video, fundamentals of multimedia, and film interpretation at various upstate NY institutions from SUNY Buffalo, University of Rochester, Medaille College, and Trocaire College (as well as English (ESL) in Kanazawa, Japan via Japanese Exchange and Teaching (JET), and Poland, Lithuania, and China via Bridges for Education). I was also the technical director at Squeaky Wheel, an independent media center based in Buffalo, NY. Research Interests: critical studies (political economy of media,cultural studies), alternative media, media related subcultures (especially music related), experimental media, subaltern studies, cultural aspects of globalization.
