The 8th-grade classes from Briggs and Cascade middle schools visited the UO for a fun-filled and informative day as part of a college readiness campaign organized by five SOJC public relations students.

The five students—Amy Wicks, Courtney Smith, Dani Metz, Gretchen Brandtjen, and Jenna Winkler—are members of the SOJC's chapter of PRSSA, Public Relations Student Society of America.

Lock up Your Future is a local level version of the Consumer Bankers Association's (CBA) College Bound Aid Hit the Books Running…The more you know, the less you'll owe! campaign. The campaign is being judged as part of the Public Relations Student Society of America 2009 Bateman Competition.

While on campus, the middle schoolers participated in campus tours, a college fair called "map your future" and a "mini" lecture on using MySpace safely.
