When photo paper and fusers collide

by Andre Chinn last modified 02:33 PM Wed Dec 12, 2007

This is what happens when a laser printer tries to print to inkjet photo paper.

Late in the afternoon of the last day of the term, our lab monitor came down to the office to report that someone had just tried to print something on our color printer using inkjet photo paper. Now, we all knew in theory what would happen in such an instance and some of us figured it was just a matter of time before this happened but none of us had ever seen the result first hand. Cast your eyes on this (those with soft-spots for printer fusers should look away):

 Ruined Fuser

Fortunately for us, 1. the printer was brought to its knees in the last hours in the term when no one would be using it and 2. our maintenance contract paid for a new fuser, no questions asked.

And yes, we spoke with the student responsible for this and rubbed her nose it it. Figuratively, of course.
